Speaking 10% test 1, Class 3 - Preparation

LUKE NGUYEN’S VIET NAM AND THE WAY OF VIETNAMESE CUISINE
Hi everyone. Today I am talking about a TV cooking show named “Luke Nguyen’s Vietnam”, produced by SBS Television from Australia.

I’ll be covering two things.

First, let’s start with some little things about Luke Nguyen. Originally, his father and mother are all Vietnamese, but he was borned in Thailand and grown in Australia. Up to now, Luke Nguyen has been continuing his work as a chef of Red Lantern Restaurant located in central Sydney, in which the essence of Vietnamese cuisine is exposed to the world through many delicate dishes. Although not as big as others, Red Lantern was awarded the most delicious Asian-cooking restaurant of Australia in three years. He has also become a young Vietnamese origin businessman upmostly successful of Australia when receiving the Restaurant and Catering Ethnic Business Award 2008. In 2010, he was invited as a guest-chef to the biggest cooking contest Masterchef Australia, bringing his renowned recipe to impress both the candidates and the audiences.

This is the third time Luke has collaborated with SBS to produce a show introducing Vietnamese cuisine. The last two times, just short films were made with 30 minutes length for each episode. However, they were highly deemed by scores of Western televiewers. Hence, this tour to his hometown would be the longest show which sufficiently introduces not only cuisine but Vietnamese people and lands as well. He said that his life target is to prove to the world that Vietnamese food is the best.

Next, let’s move to see how the film is. In this season, there are 10 episodes whose speciality is the South of Vietnam, from the Mekong Delta to Hue, with many dishes rich in flavours. They intended to be back in Vietnam to continue making Season 2, invoving culinary art from Hue to the North.

In Season 1, following the film structure, Luke Nguyen appears as a MC and also the only chef cooking featured dishes of each place. He travelled around Ho Chi Minh city visiting his relatives and cooked Grilled Pork with Vermicelli Noodles, Pomelo and mud crab salad, Sweet corn pudding, especially Sweet and sour soup with catfish… Leaving Saigon, they went to further provinces introducing more particular recipes, such as: Pork rib with soft rice noodles in Phan Thiet, Prawns stir-fired in Tien Giang, Pork ribs stewed with medical broth in Can Tho, Chicken with fresh peppercorns in Phu Quoc…He directly cooked those dishes ourdoors, surrounding by the crowd and nature.

The viewers can experience with eyes how easily and tastily Vietnamese dishes were cooked. Luke Nguyen even feels very excited because the cuisine is much more various than what he has seen and sampled in Australia. He is also impressed by the local gastronomy business style, which is so versatile and multiform. The way of cooking sometimes is suprisingly simple, offering fresh and healthy dishes at unfashionably low prices.

In general, I hope you can see Vietnamese cuisine is so attractive that Luke Nguyen has put his sensory and enthusiasm to conduct such a high-quality tv show. This cooking film not only introduces special characteristics of culinary art, but also brings to the world the colorful life of people in Vietnam.

Thế là xong. Không biết có sai lỗi chính tả, câu cú, từ ngữ gì không:D hơn 500 từ.
